Wilkinson Pickups anyone? I have them in my Glarry. They are ok but a bit noisey. That's interesting. Perhaps your guitar is not shielded correctly? What type of Wilkinson pickups are in your guitar? Single coil or humbucker? It's the 199s. The ones that are $30 on Amazon.

I'm not too familiar with them. We use EMGs JV, Basslines STK's and Di'Marzio JV's. I am only familiar with their hardware.

From my experience, Wilkinson pickups are definitely an upgrade for cheap Squier S-type pickups. I have not compared them to US Fenders. But I think if you want to upgrade from US Fenders you probably should be looking for some higher priced stuff like Seymour Duncan Antiquity.
It's a good in inexpensive pickup, yes. Check out dragonfire pickups also. They're a good inexpensive clone pickup also. I feel that they're a little better quality than Wilkinson.
